Steve served three terms as president of the Dallas Screenwriters Association from 2005-2008, after serving as the organization's vice-president from 2004-2005. His popular Like I Always Say, Sometimes column appeared in the monthly DSA Features newsletter from 2005-2008.
Steve began his screenwriting career in 1998 and he has learned the business from some of the most respected screenwriting teachers in the industry. His original short and feature length screenplays encompass a variety of genres, including comedy, drama, family, film noir, horror, and romantic comedy.
Steve won the Dallas Screenwriters Association's Favorite Writer award in 2006 and his first three feature screenplays advanced to at least the quarter-finals in various national screenwriting contests. His favorite screenplay, Double or Nothing, written with David Treichler was a semi-finalist in the FADE IN screenwriting competition out of almost 3,000 entries.
In addition to writing, Steve has helped hundreds of aspiring screenwriters as a teacher, lecturer, advisor, and screenplay consultant. Venues include the Screenwriting Conference in Santa Fe, the Dallas Screenwriters Association, Time Warner Cable, Collin County Community College District, and the LaReunion Comic and Graphic Novel Workshop.
In 2002, Steve published his first short story. Since 2004, he has published nearly 50 articles and columns on the art and craft of screenwriting.
Steve helped review film submissions for the 2007, 2008, and 2009 AFI Dallas International Film Festival. He also helped review film submissions for the 2010 Dallas International Film Festival.
In 2007, Steve sold his first adapted screenplay and he is currently available for screenwriting assignments on a flat rate or hourly basis. He also has a variety of spec scripts and short stories available for sale or option.
